Ramona Ranch Banner Red Wines

Wines & Tasting

As a boutique winery, we produced between 1000 and 1200 cases of wine a year! Grapes are selected for their quality, as well as suitability to Ramona’s warm climate, allowing us to make a range of styles of wine that best represent our location. Given the small lots, not all wines are available at all times, but you find an interesting selection in our tasting room sure to delight both new and seasoned wine drinkers. Our focus tends to be on vineyard, varietal specific wines, meaning one grape from one vineyard, with occasional blends like our sell-out Super Tuscan.

We invite you to pack a picnic, grab a friend and enjoy our hand-crafted wines on our view patio, with live music every Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Leashed pets and picnics are always welcome!

All wines served are hand-made here at Ramona Ranch. Whites are aged in stainless, occasionally with an oak influence, while our Reds are aged individually in a rotating selection of Oak Barrels from American, France and Hungary. Our grapes are either grown on premises, called Estate, from the Ramona American Viticulture Area (AVA) vineyards, or occasionally from greater San Diego County and/or SoCal.

White Wines

2023 Sauvignon Blanc

Aromas of citrus, particularly grapefruit, and a light grassy note, the flavors of this wine start with a faint hint of peach, leading to warm  well balanced orange and tropical flavors with a bright finish.

2022 Albariño

Inspired by our 2019 Portugal Wineclub Trip.  Enjoy the citrus aroma with some grapefruit and lemon blossom scents.  Pear tones dominate in the tasting with a hint of peach on the finish.   Nice crisp wine with a delicate finish, and balance.

2022 Viognier

In spite of its delicate aromas of peach, apricot, and popcorn, this off-dry wine packs a punch. It is a rich full-bodied wine with flavors of peach, honeydew melon and toast. Because of its low acidity, it is a perfect pairing companion with anything involving lemon, such as shrimp scampi, chicken piccata, or even lobster dipped in lemon.

Red & Reserve Wines

2023 Grenache

A light fruity wine with herbal and tobacco notes on the nose, this easy to drink wine was released young to highlight its fresh berry aromas and flavor. On the palate, ripe strawberry, raspberry and cherry create a smooth enjoyable wine.

2021 Reserve Tuscan Sun

This warm inviting wine is a perfect companion for an elegant Italian feast. On the nose, this wine presents rich black fruit and warm spice aromas. A fruit-forward wine with initial flavors of strawberries, cherries and black fruit gives way to lingering notes of cinnamon, cedar and a hint of coffee. Pair with a bruschetta w/ roasted garlic and tomatoes.

2021 Bourbon Aged Aglianico

A deep rich full-bodied wine that greets you with the aromas of black cherry and smoke, hints of brown sugar and vanilla.  Rich ripe flavors of black cherries and black plum coat the palate initially, while the bourbon barrel softens the finish with flavors of brown sugar, caramel and vanilla.

Rosè, Desserts & Port

Wild Rose, 2023 (Rosè of Sangiovese)

Beautiful aromas of fresh strawberries and red fruits. Crisp and clear with a creamy mouth feel, this wine provides gentle complexity, blending flavors of strawberries and raspberries to a smooth lingering finish.

Grenache Rosè, 2023

A pale salmon colored delicate wine with gentle romas of white peach, strawberry rhubarb pie, and Honeycrisp apple.  On the palate, bright acidity provides mouth-watering notes of grapefruit zest, honeysuckle, strawberry, and watermelon. Grown biodynamically near Ramona Ranch at Ā La Terre Vineyard.

Reserve, Indulge Ten-Year Tawny Port                                   hi

This big, bold red wine balances power with finesse, expressing multiple layers of dark fruit, dusty chocolate, and spice.  Racked into Oak barrels, the wine aged for 30 months in the barrel, with an in-the-barrel malolactic fermentation, and then enjoyed another year of aging in the bottle.  Gold Medal – Sunset Magazine International Wine Competition.
