Micole Moore, Wine Maker
Meet the Makers – Micole & Teri
At Ramona Ranch Winery, every vine, barrel, and bottle tells a story—our story.
We’re Micole Moore and Teri Kerns, husband-and-wife founders who built Ramona Ranch quite literally from the ground up. What started as a shared dream has grown into a thriving, Certified Sustainable winery rooted in the heart of the Ramona Valley.
Micole is our head winemaker and COO, with a deep love for the science and art of winemaking. He’s known for his hands-on approach, sharp attention to detail, and for helping shape the styles of several other local wineries. Whether he’s walking the vineyard rows or fine-tuning fermentation, Micole is always experimenting, learning, and letting the fruit guide the process.
Teri wears many hats—from selecting barrels, varietals, and managing the tasting room experience. She’s also the force behind our marketing, wine club, and community outreach, making sure every guest feels like part of the family.
Together, we pour our hearts into every bottle and love sharing our passion for winemaking, sustainability, and community with all who visit.
We can’t wait to welcome you to Ramona Ranch.
— Micole & Teri
A winemaker, also known as a vintner or oenologist, is responsible for the winemaking process from start to finish, including:
- Grape selection: Working with the vineyard teams to ensure grapes are growing properly and are ready to harvest. Micole decides when to pick the grapes based on the sugar levels, pH, and acidity numbers.
- De-stemming and pressing: Micole destems the grapes, leaving whole-berries for the fermentation process, while white and rosè grapes are pressed immediately following harvest.
- Fermentation: Micole monitors the fermentation process, using a native, or wild-ferment, rather than commercial yeast.
- Filtering: Micole gently filters the wine to remove solids.
- Aging: Micole decide how to age the wine, including the type of oak barrel, toasting level, and whether to use new or old barrels.
- Blending: Micole creates the unique blends, like our Super Tuscan and Tuscan Sun.
- Bottling: Micole decides when the wines are ready for bottling, which is done on-site to ensure the quality is maintained.
With a passion for wine-making, and strict attention to detail, Ramona Ranch wines offer the opportunity to taste something something special.
