Interesting White Wines

2015 Burlesque

A beautiful blend of Pyramid Vineyard’s Muscat and our Estate Symphony, this wine offers soft hints of orange blossom, apricot, and curry spice.   We have not yet found a food that this wine does not enhance; enjoy with Sushi, Poke, Thai. Try with tangy coconut shrimp or bbq’d chicken wings, this wine’s balanced acidity allows it to stand up to a myriad of flavors.

2015 Viognier (“Vee-on-yay”)

A lighter alternative to Chardonnay, this wine opens with a delicate floral note characteristic of this varietal.  After cold fermenting in stainless steel this wine was finished in aged French oak barrels which impart secondary notes of vanilla and baking spices on the palate.  Its medium acidity complements any light fare: scallops, baked brie with apricot, pork chops with apricot or herbaceous dishes with lemon, fennel or tarragon. YAY for Viognier!

2014 Indulgence

Bliss in a glass – treat yourself to this rare 100% Sauvignon Blanc Dessert wine, make from the same vineyard as the above 2015.  2013 was a hot year, with a small harvest which was allowed extra long  ‘hang time’ on the vine, resulting a beautifully ripe grapes with a few raisins resulting in a rich, honey flavor with a kiss of caramel; 375m spits

2015 Sauvignon Blanc

A beautifully balanced white wine from a vineyard we installed in the hills above Lakeside.   There is nothing savage about this easy drinking white wine with hints of tropical fruit, light acidity and delicious finish.   Pairs well with the classic match of oysters, but we also like with a local, creamy cheese or pasta dish.

Award Winning Red Wines

2013 Sangiovese

A red Italian wine grape variety whose name derives from Latin Sanguis Jovis, “the blood of Jove.”  Used traditionally in classic Chianti’s, ours is made from the Sangiovese Grosso clone, the same clone used to create Tuscany’s big Brunellos; our interpretation is packed with red fruit flavors and ripe strawberries and is deliciousness in a bottle!

2013 Syrah

Syrah is a dark-skinned grape varietal grown throughout the world used primarily to produce red wine. Syrah is sometimes confused with Petite Sirah, a synonym for Durif, an 1880 cross of Syrah with Peloursin.  Syrah first appeared as a wine grape in California in the 1970s, where it was planted by a group of viticulturists who called themselves the “Rhône rangers.”  Leathery with notes of black fruit, a slightly herbal finish, and a smooth full body; we love to serve this red wine with steak or to enjoy on its own.

2013 ZSM

A blend created by our wine-club with nearly equal parts Zinfandel, Syrah, and Montepulciano, this wine is excellent on its own but pairs well with a variety of dishes. Our blend opens with notes of raspberry, currant, and oregano. The acidity of the Montepulciano and fruit forward characteristics of the Zin and Syrah make it a perfect complement to any grilled red meat, a bacon mac & cheese or even your favorite pizza! Ready to drink now but will only improve with age.

Rare and Unique Red Wines

2013 Cadillac Cab Reserve

A 100% Cab blend from 4 local Ramona Vineyards, including our Estate Grapes made separately and then blended back together create a wine as smooth as our vintage Cadillac. Savor this silky Red Wine with a lingering soft oak finish. Cab’s small grapes with thick skins create a high ratio of seed to pulp, adding phenols and tannins, which we coax out via an extended fermentation.

2014 Aglianico

Hailing from the South of Rome, our grapes are grown on the west side of Ramona, on beautiful rolling hills overlooking the Ramona Grasslands, this grape is the latest to ripen in the Valley, with a true fall harvest in November.  This extra hang-time allows the complexity of the grape to shine with notes of Cracked Peppercorn, Black Cherry, Blueberry, Blackberry Bramble, Black Plum, Dried Cranberry, Raspberry, Wild Strawberry, and hints of Black Truffle.   With only 60 acres of this grape planted in the US, we’re excited to share this rare wine with you – Enjoy!

2014 Super Tuscan

A high-quality wine with a base of a Tuscan grape, blended with other Italian indigenous or international varietals created outside of DOC regulations creating a non-regional standard, gaining a following as “Indicazione Geografica Tipica,” in Italy.  Our Super Tuscan is Italian blend of 75% Montepulciano and 25% Sangiovese, both fermented with a Yeast called BM45, out of Tuscany. This incredibly smooth and balanced wine begins with notes of lightly sweet fruit (strawberry) and ends with a slight acidic spice; perfect for enjoying on it’s own, or with any rich Italian dish.

Our family-owned Vineyard & Winery is located in the heart of the Ramona American Viticulture Area (AVA). All wines served are hand-made here at Ramona Ranch; whites are aged in stainless while our reds age individually in Oak Barrels. All grapes are from the Temecula & Ramona Valley AVA’s.
